week 5, wednesday w/ steph

[ it's a beautiful wednesday morning! it's wednesday now. it was always wednesday. if you like constant rain. either way, varian is knocking at steph's door. ]

[ she is. in bed, what a shocker. it seems like steph does actually rest sometimes. ]

[ he does, and he is holding something behind his back! something very subtle. something ... subtly leg-shaped.

look it's hard to hide that behind his back he's not that big. he's rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet, obviously very #proud ]

[ it is a little obvious what he finished, but she's going to give him the benefit of surprising her so she'll pretend like it's perfectly hidden. ]

Okay, so, obviously, this isn't the prettiest thing I've ever done, and sanding it down using stuff from the armory was a lot harder than I thought it would be, so I can't guarantee you won't get any splinters if you rub the non-leather part against your bare skin, but, um, yeah. There you go! Sorry it took me a while.

[ it's been like a week. ]

[ her casual demeanor drops immediately. steph knew he was doing this; he took her measurements and it was obvious what he had hidden behind him. but it actually didn't really feel real until just now.

there's a pause, before she slides herself off the bed, grabbing one of the crutches as she goes. it'll probably be safer if she used both, but right now she's just closing the distance between them so she can wrap varian into a hug. ]

[ oh well okay this is happening. he tentatively hugs steph back with the arm that's holding the leg. this is awkward. ]

[ it's not pretty, but she was imagining more like a pirate block of wood kind of deal. ]

[ ... technically she needs to be pantsless to do this and varian is realizing this right at this second alongside me. ]

... Or I just tell you how to do it since, um. It'd be hard to put it on when you're still wearing pants.

So. How do you do it.

Oh, it's really simple, you just slip this [ he gestures to the leather part ] onto your thigh, and tie it up. You want it to be tight enough that you're sure it won't slip off, but don't do it so you cut off your circulation. This part [ the. leg. ] connects directly to your, um, your stump, so I put in some material so it doesn't chafe. If it feels like it's moving, tell me? If your skin directly touches the wood, that's... not great.

[ eloquent. he's just going to. put the leg on the bed next to steph now. ]

Okay, that shouldn't be too hard...

[ she'll pick the leg up... which is a weird thing to type. ]

I guess I'll. Take my pants off now.

[ so leave....]

[ LEAVES THE ROOM SO SHE CAN DO THAT IG ]

[ and once he's gone, she's going to have a quick and easy emotional breakdown.

and once that's done, steph takes off her pants to then try to put her new leggy on. it takes a bit, but once it's properly placed she will... put on a pair of shorts. ]

once it becomes apparent that she isn't going to die by just standing, steph takes a hesitant step forward. she's... wobbly... ]
